Lövsprickningens tid

Det är vår. Särskilt på Söderåsen i Skåne. Vi tog med oss kamerorna och åkte dit.





Vitsippor, historiska ekar, bokskog, magiska grynings-timmar, duktiga lärare och fina människor. Det är allt man behöver.

Keep Odd Molly odd

The fashionbrand Odd Molly opened up a store in central Stockholm in February. I like the brand. It is different and has a great female touch. The story behind it is good too. Read about it at oddmolly.com. Some guys met a girl who was different from all the others. Everyone wanted to spend time with her. They called her Odd Molly.

As long as the fashion clothes from Odd Molly are odd enough, they are interesting. When too many people start wearing them, my interest will drop. They should be part of building personal personal brands, not fashion for everyone. A way of handling that is to keep the price quite high. Not so good for our wallets, but probably good for the brand. Both their own and our own.

Brandname as part of the design

I have a favorite among American brands when it comes to leisureclothes. Abercrombie & Fitch. Actually I don´t think that I belong to their targetgroup - I am a few years too old. However, I always find great things when I visit their stores. It is admirable that such a complicated name can build such a successful brand. It stands out. The name is often used as an important part of their design.

Now I read that Abercrombie & Fitch are looking for storelocations in Sweden. One reason is that Swedes are considered to be sensitive to trends.

Brand Extension

I have two favorites when it comes to candy. One is punchpralines. The other one is cars. This wellknown Swedish favorite-candy has quite recently launched a new package. It is a cup full of cars for cars. Great for driving. Also great for going to the movies and not wanting to disturb your neighbors with the plastic rustle. Launching a new productpack is a good way of extending your brand. It can be a new size, a new shape, a new function in the pack. As you do this, it may be wise to keep the basic parts of the graphic design. For many brands, that is what people associate the brand to and it triggers the buying impulse.

Turning a negative topic into a positive message

I really like the commercial where our public radioservice thanks people who pay their TV/radio-fee. The commercial takes place in public areas like a library and a supermarket. A choir surprisingly starts singing a tribute to a person in the room who has paid his or her fee. There are some funny faces here!

Just turning a negative topic into a positive one is great. The quality of the commercial is so-so, which emphasizes the impression of a giggeling surprise. The brand Radiotjänst will strenghten their image through this campaign.

Brand your time

Some people love their electronic calendars. I have had one for a few years. It has never really made my day. Posts are erased without reason, I can not get a good overview of my time and I can not use nice pens to write in it.

For people like me, there is a good complement: personal calenders. Build the whole calendar in your own personal way. It isn´t fancy, but it is creative. Check it out at www.personligalmanacka.se.

I got mine as a gift from a friend and it has turned into a favorite.

Big Thinking in Personal Branding



There is an online magazine called Think Big Magazine. It is definitely worth looking through every now and then. Subscribe for free at www.thinkbigmagazine.com.

The author and speaker Justin Herald writes about our "success DNA" in one of the issues. While some people suggest that we should benchmark successful people in order to become successful, Justin Herald believes that we all have our own way of succeeding. I agree. Do it your way. Find your way based on your own goals and values. Get inspiration from other successful people, but do only copy them if they are in sync with your own way.

Vinter, the restaurant

I have a new favorite-restaurant. It is called Vinter and serves food with a touch of northern Sweden. The food is great, the staff very friendly and the atmosphere relaxing, creative and home-like.

I was there with some friends last night. Everybody was happy with the food and the evening. We could talk easily without being drowned by loud music. It´s a small place - probably one of the reasons why it feels almost like visiting a friend at home.
